Project Overview
American BioCarbon operates a commercial-scale manufacturing facility to make biocarbon-derived fuel pellets from sugarcane bagasse (the by-product of sugar production), and biochar soil amendment. The facility uses patented biomass separation technology and is co-located with the Cora Texas Sugar Mill in White Castle, Louisiana. American BioCarbon's process reduces the environmentally harmful practice of burning excess bagasse, while producing valuable renewable energy pellets and agricultural resources, and helping the Sugar Mill and local sugar growers.
Sustainability Profile
Uses waste bagasse as feedstock material to produce pellets which are a renewable substitute for coal.
Technology
Patented Biomass Separation Unit removes waste material from incoming sugar cane to use as feedstock.
Location
Co-located with Cora Texas Sugar Mill in White Castle, LA under a long-term lease and feedstock supply agreement.
Investment Profile
Total investment at White Castle project: $150 million. Growth opportunities for additional facilities in LA and FL.
CS Solutions Involvement
American BioCarbon changed ownership in early 2020, at which time the new owner engaged CS Solutions to manage the project. CSS is leading a comprehensive operational improvement and expansion plan, while providing full back-office services to American BioCarbon.
